Na, its just a quick dip, into the water, out if the water. It helps the second coat stick to the first. U might havea few spots that are less breaded from where u touch them butjust sprinkle a little more of ur mix onto those areas and u should be fine. Btw its a milk and egg mix that is put in with the rest of the seasoning, maybe u could look up copycat recipes. The box never said buttermilk, just milk, so idk for sure but u may be able to find something thatll work with ur ingredients.

Or use egg/milk. Flour, egg mixed with milk, flour.

It really depends on the breaking you use, when I worked in the deli at publix it didn't and their chicken was always amazing!

I actually have a recipe that calls for milk as part of the dipping process. Flour then freeze the chicken for 10 minutes or so then dip them into milk and then into crushed corn flakes. It was soooooo good.

Here is the recipe
http://jamiecooksitup.net/2011/04/crispy-chicken-with-creamy-italian-sauce-and-bowtie-pasta/

I just did the chicken part when I made it the second time and I baked it in the over instead of pan frying it.
