re: Starting Natural labor

posted 5th Nov
I took it 3 days before I went into labor and by the third night my water was gushing. But I guess it does work different for different people since everyone is different.

Just because you tried something and labor happened soon after, doesn't mean what you did caused labor. You were probably going to go into labor anyways.

That's nice. It was a coincidence though.

You do realize that your due date is an estimate, right? Just have patience. Walk, sex, yoga ball. Castor oil is just asking for trouble, and honestly if you try taking something to induce labor, how do you consider that natural????? You will not stay pregnant forever, I promise.

Do you have a breast pump? I honestly believe this is what jump started my labor at 36 weeks. I was not informed about them and tried mine out for just a few minutes around 35 and a half weeks. I was producing colostrum and my boobs ached so I figured, "Why not try this thing out for smurfs and giggles?" Within two days I went into full blown labor. I hadn't felt a single contraction when my water broke one evening and by the time I got to the hospital an hour later I was already 5cm dilated.

Obviously I can't guarantee the pump was the reason for my labor but I suspect it had something to do with it. I highly recommend against doing anything like this unless you're a week or more past your due date. Due dates aren't exact science and your baby will come when s/he's ready.

I personally wouldn't jeopardize your baby's well being with an unwarranted induction unless you're well past your due date. While most inductions are safe they do raise the likelihood of having a c-section because the drugs used often put the baby in distress (especially when combined with epidurals which confuse the entire process because you have one drug speeding things up and another drug slowing things down which subsequently puts the baby in a tough spot). Just let it happen naturally. I know you feel like you're about to explode but your baby will be here before you know it.

I know that the due date is an estimate but its like gah I want t meet him so bad. I havent felt any contractions so I have no idea as to what to look for when I do go into labor. I just hope it happens soon. I tried the castrol and all it did was make me cramp really bad. I only took a very little amount. It made me poo lol TMI but only like twice the whole night. I will not do that again. My mom told me she took a whole bottle and had me that same day. But she was 2 weeks late. Thanks for the advice. My body is probably just not ready like you all said. I hate being in pain so much and not being able to sleep because of this massive Belly I have lol but I look at it as the baby will keep me up pretty much all night so its not like it matters. I just hope I have him soon or I am gonna scream haha

I totally understand how uncomfortable the end stages of pregnancy are.

Take lots of warm baths, it will help ease some pain, and also helps you relax. The more relaxed you are the better as it could help things along as well if you're not tense. Go for a pedicure, supposedly there are certain pressure points in your feet that can help release the right things in your body to encourage labour as well.
