Is flavored water OK?

posted 5th Nov
My daughter refuses to drink water and is a juice addict. I bought some flavored water and she loves it. Is this a good alternative to juice and water? Or would it be bad for her?

This is the kind I bought:

If it doesn't have Aspartame (or any other sugar sub) in it, I don't see why not.

I think it's sweetened with artificial sweetener so I would say no what about cutting up lemons or limes or putting frozen berries in the water with the berries it will give a coloured look and have a hint of fruit

Both my kids are the same way so we get the flavored carbonated kind I haven't heard bad things so I'm guessing no

It says no sugars or calories. I don't see Aspartame listed either.

The ingredients listed are:

Purified Water
Natural Flavors
Citric Acid
Sodium Polyphosphate
Potassium Sorbate (preserve freshness)
Potassium Bnzoate (preserve freshness)
Sucralose
Acesulfame Potassium
Calcium Disodium EDTA
Magnesium Sulfate

Here's what my pedi told me to do. He said slowly start diluting the juice, and over the course of a few months bring it closer and closer to straight water. Juice and flavored drinks are fine, but kids need to learn to drink good old fashioned, good for you water. Our kids have more of a milk addiction now, and we've established the rule that they can only have a certain number of glasses a day (for us, it's 2), and they have to drink some water before they can have milk most of the time. They've picked up on it so well, and on the occasion I don't make my 3 year old have some water first he will say "but I didn't have a drink of water!" They've adjusted quite well.

Idk. We just dilute juice half and half. That's a once a day thing. Other than that, they are allowed to have as much water or milk as they want. And they usually choose water unless it's a meal time.

sucralose is an artificial sweetener.
