Romantic anniversary getaway to Colorado?

DH and I have our anniversary coming up in May and I have finally got him to agree to go somewhere, we are just checking into it because we both have never been there. We thought it would be fun to go to Colorado and ski. I want it to be fun and it will be just the two of us for a week for our anniversary. But I have no idea on where to even begin, we usually go to beaches with family by DH is tired of going to the beach so were trying to think of someplace fun to be able to have some romantic time alone and do something we both have never done. So my question is what is a fun place you have been to, or where have you been in Colorado? Just trying to plan my vacation and just thought to get some of the ladies opinions. Thanks Ladies!  

The Garden of the Gods resort in Colorado Springs!! We stayed in the cottages and it was amazing. Best morning I have woken up to in probably 10 years! And thankfully it survived the fires!

Any of the ski resorts are nice....Winter Park, Keystone, Breckenridge, Vail (all in the mountains) or Colorado Springs is nice...Garden of the Gods and Seven Falls, but there isn't skiing there.

I live in CO so if you have any questions you can message me. The.biggest misconception people have about CO is thinking it's all mountains and it's really not. Where I live I can barely see the mountains, so be careful when you book a trip because if you want skiing and mountains you should book with a ski resort.

Nice places around here to go sking would be winter park or aspen. Estes park is also very pretty and more of a tourist town with the Stanley hotel and everything I don't think there's many places to ski there though. There is also vail, telluride,Steamboat springs, keystone. My favs are probably steamboat an Estes park. Good luck

Thank you! I have looked into Aspen Highlands and they said that they have beginner's trails, but they were closed right now? Is there certain parts of the seasons that they are open?
