I think this should be a wake up to all zoos. Every exhibit needs to be stupid proof. There needs to be new fences/taller fences in place to where no one could get into any enclosure even if they were trying to do so.

They are never going to be able to make exhibits stupid proof, because unfortunately, people are stupid. The fence was plenty high enough.

I haven't read the whole story but with the subject, tidbits and common sense I can put it together. And I can totally see how she'd at least get child endangerment.

No they're animals acting on instinct. The mother's an idiot for putting her child up there

It would not surprise me if they charged her, but it also wouldnt surprise me if they didn't, I think she should be charged at least with child endangerment

I work at a Zoo You woulld not believe how many people DO NOT obey the signs posted to stay off railings. I quite often have to ask people to please come down from them. Some are polite about it and others are just down right nasty about it. I don't do it for my benifit I do it for theirs because of things like this. It is also for the safety of the endangered animals we have. It's so tragic how al of this could have been avoided.
Nevertheless as a parent my heart aches for this family and I send my condolences to them. No one ever expects something like this to happen. Hopefully others can learn from this mistake.
Condolences also for the zoo keeper who cared for the african painted dog i know any animal loss in our zoos community is hard and i'm sure this one was for them aswell.

No they shouldn't. Just because they're kept does not make them domesticated. They're wild and will act that way.
