How long for a sore throat?

I've had a sore throat for about 8 days now.

I have mild to moderate nasal congestion (though that could be from dust allergies and super dry air)

No fever, no white patches.

It's more of an annoyance now. I have to clear my throat to talk

When should i see a doc?

I guess I'm bad. I never do, unless I KNOW it is something like strep. I very rarely go to the doctor though, I'm more of a "suck it up unless you're dying" kind of person.

Can it be strep without the white patches and fever?

I honestly don't know.But with you saying it's mostly an annoyance, I'd doubt it. When I had strep it was much more than an annoyance!

Do you have a humidifier? If not get one. I get like that if I don't run mine.

Do you have nasal dripping in the back of your throat? That always causes a sore throat for me. If there are no white spots it's probably not strep but that doesn't mean it can't be. I'd give it a few more days and it's not getting any better I'd probably see a doctor.

This is me except its been going for 10 days now and my boys have it too. I ended up going to the doctors today for the boys, we have pharyngitis. Its taking forever to go away and it's worse in the mornings.

Um... a little? It's not a constant drip but I do have to clear my nose every so often

My MIL swears by putting honey and lemon juice in a cup of warm water and drinking it that it will make your throat feel better. It may be worth a try. Feel better soon.

I second the humidier suggestion!

Take a teaspoon of warm honey to sooth a sore throat.

And to help with congestion but either Vicks or straight up eucalyptus oil on the soles on your feet and put on socks.
