Maybe he is going through a growth spurt?

I know you're pregnant. Pregnancy makes you tired and.could be making you get impatient with him.

Maybe make his bedtime earlier so he doesn't get overtired and make him get like that.

he doesnt try and climb out of it at all and if we got him a toddler bed he wouldnt stay in it he would be playing with all the stuff he shouldnt be in his room

ah ha! i think i found a solution or at least a temporary solution i let elliott take a lil toy to bed with him for nap time (besides his usual stuffed animals he always has in there) so he picked a lil windup potato head.....he whinned for a sec when i walked out of his room and tats it!! i havent heard a peep for like 15 min so i thinking he just had quite playtime with it wile drinking his milk.
idk if its bad to let them have toys in his crib but w.e. he has stuffed animals and blankets and a pillow so w.e.
any ways thought i'd share since you have the same problem
