Does your DH/SO take Paxil or another SSRI?

I found these really interesting, we have been dealing with my husband having infertility problems and until earlier this year no doctor had suggested it could have been because of his taking an SSRI. I'm glad we finally have some sort of direction to go in, but absolutely terrified of his going off of Paxil, from everything we have read it is horrible especially since he has been taking it for over 10 years, so his body is really dependent on it. After this semester is over, he is making the switch to something else, wish us luck! Hopefully we will get pregnant really soon after he goes off of it, everything we have been told says his fertility will go back to pre-paxil normal within 2 months of his last pill.

My DH took paxil for 4 months and stopped cold turkey because it was effecting his ability to have sex drastically, he couldn't get off at all, at first it would just take him a very long time, but after so long he just couldn't do it at all, and we were trying to get pregnant so it was affecting our relationship, and it was starting to alter his mind, Paxil is called the libido killer on the internet

My DH has always had the problem of being able to get off, but since he was a virgin before me didn't realize how abnormal that was. It has affected our relationship as well, but since a good marriage can't be based on sex alone we worked through it. I'm super excited for a husband who will want sex more than a few times a month though. Yay january!




Was it hard for your husband to quit cold turkey? I know four months isn't even close to 10 years but still..

It was affecting our relationship because I could tell it was hurting him, and he was insecure about it, we've been together 10 years so I went from having a hubby who wanted to have sex every night and we could have quickies, to my husband not wanting anything to do with sex and it taken 2 hours to get off and most times we would stop before hand because it was too exhausting, he was starting to only be able to get off if I did weird kinky things which he never wanted before, I did anal a few times because I felt bad for him even though it hurt like hell, I was afraid for him to just quit on his own but he was determined, your right 4 month isn't nothing compared to 10 years I wouldn't recommend your husband quitting cold turkey at all, my DH had some side affects from quitting he had bad vertigo, and was very dizzy all the time, he had headaches and not much appetite but thats about it, and that only lasted maybe a month and then he was back to normal and getting off like a champ! lol
