Help for IBS? Pain relief? TMI

posted 4th Nov
I start my externship at an animal hospital tomorrow, its only for 4 hours but I'm really nervous which makes my IBS act up. Earlier I was in the bathroom in a cold sweat for an hour only passing a small BM (tmi sorry) went and sat on the couch with my dad, had to go back, sat there half an hour only passing a small amount. Finally the 3rd time I went to the bathroom I was able to "clear out"   I've had this happen before, and usually once I clear out I'm good and feel SOOOO much better, but not this time   I still feel like crap and haven't eaten anything since 1 so about 7 hours.

Ladies with IBS is there anything I can take OTC to make this pain go away? Any special teas that relax the intestines? I'm tired of being in pain

PS- No I'm not pregnant so I can try anything

I feel you! Most days I don't eat breakfast or lunch at work because I know I will be in the bathroom for hours.

Hey there ~ I have IBS from all (7) the babies I've carried & the best thing I can tell you is to learn to treat your nervousness b4 it grabs your "gut".
For now, try a warm soak in the bathtub while drinking some warm tea laced with honey. The honey not only sweetens the tea (try sleepy time by celestial seasonings) but relaxes my intestines. Once you "clear out" try starting each day with some dan active ~ it keeps the "tubes" in your belly balanced with the same stuff in yogurt only better .... Just relax about tomorrow ~ it's only 4 hrs & it too "shall pass" Best of luck!

My IBS makes me have to go so I take Imodium. It helps everything slow down at least

Immodium would be a temp solution atleast for that one day.

I've had IBS for over 5 years...

No greasy/spicy foods within 4 hours of waking up.
And more fiber.

Other than that I dont take anything OTC.

Goodluck!
