I need birth control help/advice.

posted 4th Nov
So I'm between the pill and the depo shot. I was leaning towards depo because its convinent and you don't have to remember to take it everyday. But looking in to it I see a whole load of complaints. Weight gain... Can't afford that right now, I can't afford more clothes and jeans. Increased apitite... Bit in a financial stiuation to eat whatever whenever I want. Bone loss... Don't know if that's true or not. Constant bleeding.... I would hate that!! And it could take years before you get pregnant again... We want another in 2 years. Headaches.... I'm a SAHM, can't afford headaches, my baby girl needs me. How did it work out for you ladies?
How was it being on the pill? I'm willing to take a pill everyday to avoid all te depo affects.
Just need help and advice.

The biggest issue I had when I was on depo was my mood swings. I was down right nasty to some people. But I dont know about other women.

The only birth control I've ever been on is the depo, I hated it. I gained alot of weight, I had 0 periods, got headaches all the time.. The 0 periods was nice, until after I got off the depo and my period was EXTREMELY irregular. The only good thing is that I never got pregnant while on it, but even after quitting the depo, my SO and I didn't use any form of birth control and I didn't get pregnant for about 2 years. I seriously thought I was just infertile

Also, it severely smurfed up my sex drive. I never wanted sex, ever, and that put a strain on my relationship with SO.

Love the pill! Just set an alarm to remember.
Hate the depo! Bled heavy for a week then it stopped for another week. Then bled heavy for three months! Then I didn't have a period for three months so I took a prego test it said negative. Then I started getting severe pains and funny looking blood clots at school, turns out the hormones from the depo caused a false negative and caused me to miscarry.
Not trying to scare you but it was really traumatic for me and I just want to warn everyone about the shot.

The paragard lasts 10 years if you leave it in. If you have it removed you should be fine and dandy to TTC asap.

I had none of those issues when I was on the depo except the weight gain. Didn't really need to buy all new clothes tho. It was weight gain but its not like I blew up like a balloon
And if you keep yourself healthy the weight gain is not that bad at all.

It last up to 10 years and is non hormonal so as soon as you take it out there you are fertile immediately. Ive had it for a little over 2 years and no complaints except a heavier period which I can so deal with.

I say depo. I had a hard time making a decision on which birth control to choose also but when it came down to it I chose depo because I dont want anymore kids anytime soon and I was worried if I was on the pill and I forgot to take the pill i'd get pregnant again with the shot you get it every 3 mons.
