I don't think there's any reason to swear at the child. Plenty of other ways to threaten a spanking without resorting to cussing.

I've said it to LO before   But it was more out of anger and exasperation than me sitting there planning on what I would say to the child after they got out of timeout.
Usually it's when they do something REALLY bad or they wake me up 100x a night  

I would not use that language when talking to a child...ever.

I have heard that threat many many times. I tell my oldest I'll tan his hide and he knows what that means... serious business.. haha My FIL says "i'll put my 10 1/2 D up your ass" meaning his boot..

I see no issue. She or he was being honest and I'd probably say the same thing.

I hate to hear adults cursing in their conversation toward a child. I'm guilty of it, but I dislike it and see a huge issue with it.

It could be worded differently, but I don't see a problem with threatening to spank.

If they're not going to follow through(and probably can't since that's illegal) they should not be threatening to.

i would replace the phrase, ''bust your ass'' to something like ''you will be given a spanking ''
