First Apt?

I am 5 weeks today  ! My first doc apt is tommrow , what do u think thet will do ??

Take your iron level via blood. Have you pee in a cup, take your blood pressure, weigh you.....maybe listen for the heartbeat.

do a vaginal exam, take pee and send you for a bunch of tests!

I forgot about the vaginal exam!! lol that too!

Vaginal exams at 5 weeks? what for?? I got my first vaginal exam at 40w2d and I think she did a sweep at the same time coz I was in latent labor.. That seems odd to me lol

??? it's odd not to get one done at your 1st prenatal appt. they normally check r uterus to estimate how far you are and if needed they do a pap smear. why would your dr wait until after your'e due to give you an exam???

I think that's just the way we do it in NZ... unless you're leaking water or bleeding or something they pretty much leave you alone until you're in labor. I'd been contracting for two days, 5 mins apart for a min each, before my midwife did a cervical exam to check for dilation. They estimated how far I was with blood tests and a dating ultrasound, and at my first appt midwife gave me a swab to do a self-smear type thing. We tend to use midwives instead of doctors, I guess they're a lot less invasive.

I'd already been checked fairly recently so didn't have to do the STD tests. It's amazing how different people do things from place to place. I expected heaps of stuff to happen after reading about it on here but my midwife was like "No, why would I do that? Stay off the internet" lol
