Labor advice!

posted 4th Nov
Alright mommies. 37weeks today and on my 3rd   I attempted to labor on a ball with my last, but waited to long was in transition and couldn't make it off the bed to the ball (about 8/9cm). They had me in awful positions on my side's, one leg in the air.. This time I am planning on staying home on the ball as long as possible and hope to continue when I get to the hospital. So the question was labor/contractions and or transition easier/more manageable on the ball? Epidural isn't an option for me so looking for tips on laboring easier (hopefully).

laboring on the ball made my contractions waaaay more painful. thats just me though. if you cant get an epidural i would def. go with the tub.

I had an epi 28 hours into labor. I wanted to go without, but it was taking forever and I was exceeding my pain threshold for too long. I walked... a lot.. I paced the halls. The birthing ball was just painful as all hell... I sat on the edge of my bed and rocked my hips back and forth---- watched scary movies to take my mind off of it and ate ice cream. Lol.

Hmm Icecream and a flick sounds perfect for labor..

The ball was awesome to sit on and bounce on for my sore pelvis, but I had to stand up when I had a contraction because it was just too uncomfortable on it.

Was standing more helpful through contractions than lying down also?

I didn't lie down while I was in active labour at all, until I got the epi and then I was numb, so I don't know.

The ball was to uncomfortable to me . With all three of my kids I have labored the best on my hands an knees or leaning over the birthing tub which I HIGHLY recommend . Water has always relaxed me . For me it took the edge off the pain and helped relax me so all my energy went into the contractions themselves which in turn made them less painful .
