what is it?

posted 4th Nov
Ok ladies!! My due date was Wednesday. This is my first baby. I woke up this morning having pains which i believe to be contractions. When I used the bathroom when i whiped the toilet paper had a brown discharge I guess on it. I haven't lost my mucous plug yet is that what it could be or should I be concerned? It's sunday so Dr office is closed should I go to labor and delivery or sit it out a little longer?

Sounds like your bloody show. Could be a good sign. How far apart are the contractions?

wait it out if it's your first baby. when you're having painful contractions to the point you can't talk or wlak through them.... then think about it.

they want to see you with first child when contractions are 3-5 minutes apart, lasting at least a minute, for at LEAST 2 hours, or when your water breaks.

otherwise... it's just early labor if anything... and they'll just send you home.

They are not regular yet. Just the brown dis charge worried me because she also isn't moving like she usually does. I have felt her move just not like normal

As long as she is moving thats good, its normal for the movement to slow down a day to a few hours before labor begins (they are saving up their energy for that journey!) So that probably was your bloody show and good things are about to start happening for you   Good Luck keep us updated!

Its sounds like your in the beginning stages of labor once your contractions are 2 to five minutes apart and your show should be red if u cant talk or walk then go

That's actually not true. Babies don't stop moving, don't save up energy. They continue moving even as they're being pushed out.

Op... Drink a couple glasses of water, lay on your side with hand on your stomach and count movements. If you don't feel 10 movements, no matter Joe shall in 2 hours give l&d a call

Thanks for your input, I never said "stop moving" I said slow down, once you get this far into pregnancy their isn't very much room for the baby plus once the baby drops the baby cannot move like before due to being lodged in your pelvis. Anyhow I'd call L&D or go in if it's that much of a concern, you can never be too safe

You're welcome. But still, Not true. I chase babies heart rate all night sometimes because babies are still very active, right up until (lol, and after) delivery. Less movement isn't normal.... It can mean a stressed baby, and us a reason for concern. I get worried on bg... Too often moms get told not to worry when baby isn't moving as much.

I do get paid fairly well for my true, and medical research backed educated information while I'm at work. I'm not trying to be snarky with you... but telling someone to essentially ignore decreased fetal movement is a recipe for disaster.

You'd rather be right .... I'd simply rather give correct info and have her give birth to a healthy baby.
