re: Should They Be Held Accountable?

Quoting MommyingWithGrace:" The entire interviews come out tomorrow. We only caught a preview. Other officers have told the Deputy's ... [snip!] ... They were sleeping with the gunman's wife...I assume that is how he was bullied? I dont know. I will know more tomorrow."

That isn't bullying him. . . Even if they called and told him every detail, it might be harassment.

This just seems SO stupid. She's getting thrown to the wolves for who she sleeps with when she is separated from her husband? I don't care if everyone of them were cops, or firefighters. Doesn't matter. It's HER business, and if her and her husband were separated then it wasn't even his business.

If he WAS being bullied, then there were things to do that didn't involve running his wife off the road and shooting an officer, then himself.

Quoting MommyingWithGrace:" Nooooo....no one blamed the wife. They all no he is a lunatic. The reports for now say "Deputy Bellar's wife is questioning if other officer's should take some blame"."

But why should they?

Especially since it appears the officers death was a horrid accident. As in, he ran the wife off the road. Clearly the initial "plan" he had was about the wife. The officer showing up seemed to just bad timing.

Sleeping with someone isn't bullying. If they'd been harassing him then they should be held accountable for harassment, not for the deranged actions of an unstable man.

I am a little confused by your statement. Not sure if you have some people mixed up or not.

Maybe I do. haha

My understanding was that the gunman ran the wife off the road. A police officer showed up thinking it was an accident and the gunman shot the police officer, then himself.

Yeah and the officer who showed up had nothing to do with it all. He was faithfully married to someone else and had no idea what was going on in the PD.

Yeah. See, I think sadly the wife may be looking for someone to blame, since the gunman killed himself. It's got to be hard when to person to blame is gone. ALl that anger, there isn't anyone to direct it at.

But IMO it was the gunman's fault. I don't think that people who are totally free to sleep together should be held responsibly (or accountable) for the actions of a madman.

*IF* they were truly harassing him (as in, calling or contacting him to gloat about sleeping with her) then they should possibly be held accountable for harassment, but not for the death of the officer.

If anyone cares for an update, I will update this thread tomorrow when the interview comes out. I dont know the whole story yet.

I can just picture this conversation now:
Husband: I'm going to beat/kill my ex wife for cheating on me
Police: If you do that we will arrest you
Husband: The police are bullying me so I'll kill just them instead

I'm not sure where the 911 dispatchers work out of there.. but here they have their own call center and are not a part of the PD. Therefor, the EX-wife can sleep with all the police officers her heart desires and no police officer deserves to be killed because of it. This is ALL on the shooter, the police should not be held accountable for the husband's actions.
