Due December and still nothing!

posted 4th Nov
I am due december 17th. I have a few friends and family members that are due around the same time as me and they are all complaining about how they have these uncomfortable braxton hicks contractions. I haven't had anything like that! I mean, i have the normal aches and pains of pregnancy, but no contractions of any sort. Is it normal to be 34 weeks and still have never experienced BH?

I never had BH with my oldest son. Be happy about it. As they can really hurt. It has no impact on whether your child will come late or if you are in for a long labour etc.

You could be having them but dont recognize them especially if its your first. My midwife pointed them out to me bc I didnt feel it. Normal. Dont worry the real smurf is right around the corner lol

i think i only experienced them twice, and that was after 34 weeks, i had them at around 26 weeks but i had also gone into pre-term labor, after my kidney infection was gone i didnt feel them anymore.

I didn't notice them with my first. I just thought it was DS balling in a ball. This time, BH are killing me!

Same.

They don't sound pleasant, so I'm pretty happy about it  .

I had them for like an hour one night at about 37 weeks but they weren't painful. Just hardening and an uncomfortable tightness on my belly.

thanks all. thats good to hear! I was starting to worry that it meant that I was definitely going to be overdue or that my body wouldn't know what to do when the time came.

Be thankful.

Having a baby's ass in your ribs and a rock hard stomach sucks.

I never had BH with my first. But just because you do or don't get them doesn't mean you won't go overdue. I did get BH with my second and even worse one with my 3rd and still went overdue with all 3 children.

I didn't feel any BH with my first...from what I've read/heard, everyone gets them, but not everyone feels them. I don't know how true that is. I never noticed any and my water broke 2 days past my due date and I didn't go into labor on my own. I feel them sporadically with this one.
