I didn't pack enough for myself. I ended up having my waters leak all over my pj pants

I needed my SO to bring clothes I could wear after my cesarean but he kept bringing stupid things I couldn't wear like a pre-pregnancy dress that was too short for laying or sitting on a bed, shirts with high necklines, he forgot to bring spare underwear. Men

For the baby I packed a few onesies, some singlets, hats, mittens, socks and blankets. I also had nappy cream, nappies and wipes because its always convenient not to have to ask someone for them

For baby: a couple of different outfits for different weather. Mother nature is a crazy bitch and likes to ruin your plans. IMO, you can't go wrong with sleepers. A few diapers and wipes, but your hospital will probably have some, a hat, and an extra blanket.
For you: toiletries (toothbrush and paste, soap, shampoo, deodorant, you get the idea), slippers, comfy clothes for on your way home, hair ties or headbands, chapstick, pads if you don't want to use the hospital ones, and a pillow if it'll make you feel better. Also, phone chargers and something to entertain yourself.

All I brought for myself was my camera and the pair of clothes I had on me when I walked in. I was naked for the labour and delivery, so no chance of my clothes getting ruined.

Of course you never know what could happen or if you'll need to be rushed off to the hospital, but I was pretty confident I wouldn't be staying long. Sure enough, we left not 6 hours after I had my son.

I didn't give birth in the hospital. Haaaaate them, especially for birthing. But yeh, I think it's pretty standard that they make you stay overnight.

I don't blame ya. I spent part of the first day at a hospital, hated it so much. Thankfully my labour lasted as long as it did so I could switch from my OB to a midwife at a birthing center on the third day. No hospital beds and being hooked up to monitors for me, eeeeek.

I would LOVE to have a midwife deliver my baby but the midwife at my clinic isn't allowed to deliver so they say.. it really sucks because i think it would be a much better experience!

What? That's ridiculous. What does she do then? Midwives deliver babies and they kick ass at it.

They say she can only do pap smears and take care of your prenatal care. i'm guessing it's a insurance issue with the hospital that keeps anyone that isn't a obgyn from delivering which sucks ass!
