How long after you give birth is it "acceptable" for you to blame the pregnancy for being "out of shape" or not your old self.

As in...squeezing into pre-baby jeans and telling yourself, "it's ok..I just had a baby _____ months ago"

i guess it depends on how much weight you gained, also.

I personally think a year MAX. I can't stand when people say "oh, it's baby weight" and their child is 3 years old. They might have gained it when they were pregnant but IMO it is no longer considered "baby weight."

It depends. Some people have health problems triggered by pregnancy and can't lose the weight for years. Not everyone's body is the same.

?
It took NINE months to put on the weight, so it should only take 3 months to lose it?!?

Hmmmph.

It took me 13 long months to get back to fitting into pre-pregnancy jeans after my son. I had to work harder than I ever had since my body will never TRULY be the same. Again after my daughter it took right around a year. I'm certainly going to work hard to get back in shape after this baby but I accept that having kids changes things drastically and I won't beat myself up if after 6 months I'm still not squeezing into my skinny jeans... Took 40+ weeks to get here and it's going to take time for things to find their way back in place.

This is very true. Between pregnancy, my thyroid getting screwed up (the doc suspects pregnancy was a factor in that), and a car accident during pregnancy that screwed up my back, the cards were kind of stacked against me. I'm still about 60 pounds less than I was at delivery, though, because I was swollen with roughly 40-50 pounds of water weight at delivery.

you also aren't supposed to gain 80 pounds like a ton of women do. so yeah, i'd say 3 months is reasonable as well.
