vegetarian moms

posted 3rd Nov
Any vegetarian moms here that chose to feed your child meat? Was it easy making seperate meals? Or getting LO to eat it when you didnt yourself? I still have a couple more months before I even introduce baby food, I was just sitting here thinking about it is all. I know for sure Im going to feed DD meat, just wondering how others experiences went in this situation? Im waiting for the day she says "well youre not eating it"! Ive been a vegetarian for the last 13 years of my life, I havent even got a single clue how to even COOK meat  .
TIA if theres anyone who has even gone through this situation lol

I don't eat or cook red meat but occassionally my inlaws feed it to LO. There ate lots of foods I don't like thst he's tried and vice versa. DH doesn't much care what I make so long as there's meat. Ibmake a lpt of evolving meals.

Because in all honesty Im a terrible eater, and extremely picky especially with vegies so theres not a whole lot Id be able to make vegetarian style for her. I know if I chose to feed her vegetarian she wouldnt be eating well enough. And I dont want to feed her noodles for the rest of her life lol. At least with meat I know she will be eating healthier compared to me trying to feed her vegetarian meals

Hmmm.. Personally, I'd do some research and give her more beans, maybe eggs and things like that.

Well that's interesting. Honestly, I think you should feed her meat. When she's old enough to understand and wants to eat the same as you I don't think that would be a big deal.

Yeah, I had planned on feeding her meat until she was old enough to make a decision on how she wants to eat. I stopped eating meat when I was 7 so really whenever she comes to me (if she does) and says she doesnt want to eat it thats fine. But until then, Id like to at least introduce it to her. Just not sure whats good for her, and what kind of meat is good to stay away from.

I'd just make sure it says no hormones/antibiotics, cage free, grass or vegetarian fed that kind of thing. We eat more chicken and turkey than anything else.

Good to know! Thanks.
I have a feeling she will be eating a lot of chicken anyway, seems easy enough!

Strange. We are a vegish family and he just eats what we eat but sometimes I give him nuts and peanut butter and cheese and goats milk, lettuce, seaweed lol, fake meat ...My son gets a multi once a day and an omega 3 vitamin. He does well. In fact, he is practically vegan by choice but he is damn healthy and intelligent. :]

Ok, we are actually kind of weird. We eat fish like once a month max sometimes when we all crave sushi but that is all the meat we eat(I have not had land animal in 7 years and was full vegetarian for 3). We are honestly practically vegan aside from that and cheese sometimes and my son does well though. He is average size and really intelligent. I don't think land animal is necessary at all but I do have mixed feelings on the omega 3s from fish. They are known to help brain function.

Idk, sorry I am not much help because I don't cook separate meals but if you eat dairy, nuts and greens and fruits your babe should get all the nutrients they need to be healthy and you could always give a multi-vitamin and some milk daily to if you are concerned :] Good luck mama.

Its okay! lol Thanks for sharing, anything helps  . I dont plan on every meal having to contain meat, or even every single day I should say. I just want to introduce it to her at least, give her more options. Ill probably stick to white meat when it really comes down to it. Vitamins will be a for sure thing! I dont actually like being a vegetarian myself, its just been so long that it grosses me out now! I over think what it is Im actually eating which is the only reason I still dont eat it after 13 years. So even though I dont eat it I still see it as completely normal to still feed her meat. Really never crossed my mind not too, I feel more wierd NOT feeding it to her than I do feeding it to her. Wierd situation, I know lol
