Yelling and Screaming

For the most part I am very sensitive to my children's feelings, a very kind and nurturing mom. I try not to hurt my babies in any way but Ive noticed that Ive been raising my voice a lot. When I say things in a low tone they don't listen at all...but when i yell they finally respond. I feel really bad and i don't want them to think that yelling or screaming is okay. I also yell at our puppy too when hes barking too loud and they hear that also.

Any tips or suggestions of how I can get them to listen without screaming? and is there anyone else that is going though or has gone through this as well?, ps.daddy yells also, smh. Thanks in advance  

Have you tried getting down to their level and using a "stern voice"? Not yelling, but showing authority.

I would make sure you have their full attention before requesting something, make sure you guys have eye contact and the fully explain what you need from them. "It's time for dinner, what do we need to do about this mess so we can eat?" that kind of thing. Get them involved in the process and they will be more likely to comply rather than making it a struggle.

ive done that a few times and it did actually work. i think ill try it more, thanks. ill just have to stop what Im doing to do that which takes more time, but its definitely worth it... its going to take some patience on my part

It does! ill start practicing this technique... hope i can go one day, then a week, a month, and so on without doing it regularly. I appreciate it
