No i dont think so. My mom threw me on for my first. When ever i decided to have another baby i will be doing my own.

I wouldn't call it a "baby shower". But just have a sort of get together to celebrate my pregnancy? I wouldn't expect gifts though.
But, to throw yourself an actual baby shower, expecting people to buy gifts and things like that, yes... I think that's tacky.

Yes, baby shower is tacky.
Meet the baby party after s/he is born? No, not to me.

Yes, I think so, if you're expecting everyone else to provide the baby items for you.

Yeah pretty tacky.

Nah. It's the celebration of your child's life. Who cares who throws it?

I think it is tacky. Now, if you want to plan it so it's a certain way, I don't object to that, provided someone else asks if they can throw the party for you, and wants/needs your help.

I think expecting or being dependant on shower gifts is tacky, no matter who throws the party. Lol

I don't think so because what if nobody wants to throw you a shower?

A baby shower is a party to receive gifts. Celebrating the babies life really isn't the point of a baby shower, IMO. You can have a welcome home baby party or something just to celebrate their life.

Very tacky. It's like saying give me give me

No. Everyone I've known has thrown their own for every kid. I had no idea self-thrown shower or multiple showers was considered tacky until here.

I'm shocked at these answers. I had no idea expecting mothers had to have the baby showers thrown for them. I've never been to a baby shower that wasn't thrown by the woman who is expecting.
