re: What words?

We don't cuss when my son is awake, I don't at all anymore, my dh is working on it.
We don't say: Hate, retard/ed, stupid, omg or oh my gosh (he says oh my goodness)
We also try to keep his 'potty words' under control (i.e. fart, poop, butt, etc...)

A lot of it is because he goes to a private school so if it's not allowed at school, it's not allowed at home. Because well he is 4 and he can't really differentiate that well...I also work at his school so it's a lot easier for me to enforce it as opposed to daddy who loves potty words. haha

But I just really don't like hearing little kids say they hate something, or "that's stupid". It makes me cringe.

We don't call things 'gay' that we dont like in my house, SO is bad about this though. It's a pet peeve of mine to hear people call someone gay as an insult or call an object or situation they don't like gay. Also fag or smurf to me is a very disgusting word, and I hate when people use it.

And weirdly enough, I can't stand the word gorgeous.

And god save the person who calls me 'missy'. My mom use to call me little missy when I was in trouble and now it invokes a rage in me like no other.

You do know the original meaning of Fag or smurf means stick tho right?

Its evolved into a slang word over time, but the same as gay means happy.

Its all in how you precieve it, IMO. lol

Yeah I'm aware they have other meanings, but nowadays when they are spoken its not in reference to a stick or being happy or a cigarette or whatever else they meant before.

I don't like their meanings now, so they aren't spoken in my house.

No words are off limits as in no one can say them. But the kids are not allowed to cuss or call names. Especially calling people fat or saying they're too skinny.
