I think my due date was off, so I felt 2 weeks overdue but was probably only about a week or so. Good luck, labour dust!!!!

My midwife suggested not taking it because it can cause the baby to get stressed out.
I've heard of the rubbing it on you thing. Its silly and will not do anything.

I've been kinda constipated for like a week anyways.. Do any of you guys think taking it would hurt for that?!
Lol. I am kinda afraid to take anything like colace or castor oil on the off chance I go into labor too. (I know it's contradictory thinking) lol.
Well darn.. If the rubbing it on thing won't work that's dumb.

Honestly, you can take it. I mean, the chance of anything abnormal happening is small, but I have to stress it (yeah I know, AGAIN) to please at least tell your OB before you do it.

They told me to take colace. But that was like at 11 weeks. Lol. Ugh. I just thought the castor oil might work better but I hate taking stuff like that anyways.. Maybe I'll just drink a lot of red raspberry tea and eat some cereal. I am just going to wait til Monday to ask them about the castor oil if nothing happens.

I don't know if you drink coffee at all. A cup or 2 definitely won't hurt a pregnant lady, and it always helps me with that issue.

I was drinking coffee but one day I had it the morning of my appointment and his heart rate was in the 170s-190s and I got sent to the hospital for monitoring.. I was monitored for 3 hrs and they said absolutely no caffeine anymore for me   they said if it would have stayed that way they would have had to do something emergency.. Ack! Sometimes I have decaf but it doesn't really help. This was when I was 36 weeks 5 days.

Ugh! I wish I knew of something else to offer lol.

I know exactly how you're feeling, I had the same issue.

Me too. It's so tempting to just take something but I don't want to be ahitting my brains out while in labor too. Lol. That's why I don't really want to use castor oil in the first place. I'm just getting so frustrated.

This! Exactly this.

This is true. A lot of people believe that castor oil crosses the placenta and causes the baby to "smurf" in utero, but that isn't the case at all. It happens when the baby is in distress, like you said. Now, in theory, castor oil could trigger intense contractions which could potentially deprive the fetus of oxygen, stress the fetus and cause the fetus to pass meconium. But castor oil does not directly cause the baby to "smurf" in utero. I don't know why everyone seems to think this.
