DD was just like this, we had to hold her to fall asleep, heat her bassinet up with a wheat pack, take the wheat pack out and lay her down (this would usually wake her up), Turn her to the side kind of and pat her bum while shhhh-ing. Then when she was finally asleep carefully turn her back onto her back. Have you tried swaddling him? DD hated it but ive herd it works for alot of people

Yeah we swaddle him every time we put him down.. he'll be okay for an hour or so but then he's up wanting boob, although I'm pretty sure he's not actually hungry coz he feeds for like 5-10 minutes then crashes out again, only to wake up the second I try and put him in bed? I think I have one of those babies that love to be held lol. Which wouldn't bother me except everyone says not to sleep with him, but that's the only way he'll sleep and I need sleep too

Its so hard when they're like that, I wanted to co-sleep but Im way to paranoid, I like to sleep with a smurf tonne of blankets and pillows so it would be too dangerous. Maybe just try patting him or rocking the bassinet when he wakes up and see if that puts him back to sleep

we ended up co-sleeping because our son only would sleep on our chests, so we would swaddle him and sleep with him on our chest. the 1st month of life is considered the baby wearing month, because your baby has just spent 9-10 months inside of you, they are not ready to loose that yet, we had our son sleeping in his crib by himself at 6 weeks

I've heard it's really dangerous to fall asleep with them on your chest? although the past two mornings I've fallen asleep with his head on my elbow and curled up around him :S The tiredness won lol

everything is dangerous no en days, think about it, babies used to eat solids at 6 weeks of age and co-sleep with their parents untill they were anywhere between 5-10 years old. i am usually a heavy sleeper, but when my son is in our bed i wake up every time he moves so it was never a problem and my husband is a REALLY light sleeper so we werent worried. at the end of the day you do what works best, it is more dangerous for a mom to not get sleep

Are plunket nazi's about co-sleeping? I'm legit scared of the groups they have to "help" new mums, like Plunket and the LLL... They seem like really judgmental, small minded people. I'm sure they aren't all like that but that's the impression I get lol.
BUT I think I've figured out the sleeping issue.. for the past two nights I've taken his onesie off and tickled his legs to keep him awake for his feed just before I go to bed, and he feeds for about 40 minutes, then I change him and put him to bed.. and he didn't wake up til after four both nights! He woke up at 4.30 and 6 am on night 1, and 4.50 on night 2. Sooo happy!

That is so awesome!! Yeah, plunket can be helpful, but theres a bunch of stuff people dont tell them, like co sleeping. Ive also found some of the plunket nurses to be total airheads, like they didnt know basic stuff about babies and I wondered how they came to be plunket nurses lol.

I hope he keeps sleeping good for ya!

When do they start doing the home visits? My midwife is doing them at the mo, not sure when it switches over to plunket.
I hope he keeps sleepin good too, he's being a fussy britches at the moment lol I fed him, burped him, changed him and he was still grizzling. Fell asleep on my chest finally and we just snuck him into his bed but he's making snuffly noises like he's gonna wake up :S

Mine's been pretty good as well, really lax though. I'm not always sure if she checks everything she's meant to lol. And she says stuff is normal without actually checking :S
