Quoting Jas ♥:" Way too often. Every time we go to Walmart or something, M always wants to get the kids something. I try to stir him away but he just really loves their happy faces when they get something cool."

Sounds like my DH!

If it's the grocery store, no toy. But any time we go to Target or Walmart the kids get a new toy. Most the time it's a Hotwheel or something small like that.

Nearly every time we go out. DS loves cars, trucks, trains, anything with wheels and DH is always there to make sure he gets something. Like tonight, at Walmart, DH got DS a 97 cent cop car since I picked up a Monster High Doll for my little cousin. I told DH we need to chill out on the toy giving considering Christmas is approaching and his argument is that it was only a dollar.

Quoting ❥ Meℓi:" That is a really good idea."
it made him better understand why we sell old toys... because at first he really didnt get it and was upset about having to let go of some stuff, but once he was able to take the money we made, and buy something new he was really excited and didnt give a smurf about not having the old stuff anymore lol

It makes him feel like a big kid when he sees another child pick out one of his old toys. he loves to see other people happy and i always tell him hes a good person for making that child so happy. i try to teach him that helping others is a good thing.

Haha yea, even I have to do that sometimes when she gets fussy in the store, usually a new toy will keep her quiet and let me get the shopping done.

On her birthday, Christmas, and Easter from me .

My s/o, mom, and gma spoil her though so she gets something about once a month. Nothing huge, a Barbie or a my little pony or something.

Lol I make DS wait for his. He has to be good the whole time, and THEN we go to the toy isle. If I get it first, he will start acting up. Its not that he's bad (he's 4) he's just super hyper

Ahh ok lol. yea I do it to keep ehr occupied now but I am sure I will do the same when she gets older. My sister bribes my nephew who is 2 with stuff so he behaves and it works lol.

Every once in a while.
They don't really need many toys. My oldest four were all born within 2 years, 1month, and they basically entertain each other more than toys ever could. My 15MO plays a little more with toys, partly because she's almost always left out of the older kids' play. I buy her something new often, to keep her interested and challenged.

The big kids get toys they ask for, usually within a day or two. We can do that right now because they so seldom ask. It wouldn't be automatic if they wanted them all the time, but right now, I know that if they ask then it's something they truly want and most likely will get a good deal of use out of.

It's rare that we ever go to a toy store, there's just not one nearby, but when we do, I tell them they can each get anything under $20 (though only my oldest can read/understand what that means). They think it's better than Christmas, LOL.
