re: Prayers D&D

Haha, mine too, but where I live and mostly in my family it's a natural reaction, I suppose.

Not even going to lie, I would probably be shocked that you said it but if I know you don't believe I would probably get it. lol

I like "You're in my thoughts" or "Sending positive thoughts."

It's unoffensive and basically the same thing to me.

I see it as, they do what's customary for them and you do what's customary for you. If they pray, let them pray. If you don't, then tell them you're thinking about them or you're sending positive thoughts their way.

I think it's such a silly thing to get offended over something as little as someone trying to extend a thoughtful (albeit religious) gesture. That's like saying "Oh, I haven't eaten in 3 days", someone brings you a sandwich and you tell them you don't like that kind of sandwich. If you're having a hard time, accept the good things that come your way, even if you don't agree with them.

That goes through my head sometimes. But I just chuckled too.
I suppose because Atheism isn't the "norm." Though, and noone would like me haha.

Exactly, because the other way is offensive and rude to the other person's beliefs. When people say it, it's typically not in a malicious manner.

I also think it's silly for somebody to get upset or bothered by somebody else praying for them.

The other day as I was driving past an accident that involved a SUV & a guy on a motorcycle, I said a quick prayer for him as he was laying in the middle of the road still as can be. Who knows if that man believes in what I do. But I'd like to think he'd still appreciate my prayer for him to be okay, as that was the only thing I could do for that stranger at that moment.

Religion is crammed down people's throat around here. This cross is like 10 miles or less from me. Pisses me off because how many people could they have helped instead of buying it.

I think it is too, I also think it's rude.
I mean, regardless of your religious beliefs if something as simple as an "I'll pray for you" as a gesture of good will bothers you, then clearly you have a bigger problem.
It's all about acceptance and tolerance to me.

Pray is also a figure of speech, not a religious thing.

Like saying "Man I pray that doesn't happen" or "Pray tell". It's more of a condolences these days than an actual prayer (Though some people do pray)

We have one of those also! Ours is fatter and shorter, but still.. it seems like a heck of amount of overkill, and I am sure it did cost a hefty bit, the money definitely could've been used for something better.

Yeah it's pretty ridiculous. You can see it miles away and it's lit up at night. People who live around there were not happy. lol

That'd be obnoxious, I like it kind of dark when I want to sleep and a giant light or spot light on a humongous cross..or anything for that matter would be irritating.
