Don't waste money on a big pump. Get a little Medela hand pump.
It is so much easier, in my opinion. You don't have to find an outlet and get all plugged in. You can go anywhere private and it's QUIET. Electric pumps are so loud and I feel like they don't get the milk out as easily.
I can pump 4oz from each breast with a hand pump in 5 minutes, on the comfort of my bed while playing sudoku on my phone. Haha. And I got it for 25 bucks on sale! I have a big electric pump with a leather travel case- used it maybe twice.

Believe it our not people sell great $$ pimps used and you can buy all new parts for it and just have the motor, I'd wait.

It would be a bad idea to buy it now.

your hospital should offer you a hand pump for free if you want it when you are there. they give you extra parts too. It all depends on how often you will be using it though. If you plan to go back to work soon after and pumping at work, you might want to get something that will be quick like an automatic pump. But if you are going to be a stay at home mom and want to save some money, hand pumps are good for that. However, I am a stay at home mom and I bought an automatic pump because its convenient and easier than pumping by hand. If you plan to get a pump you could get one now, but I might just put the money aside and then get it a little later because you might receive one for your shower. Plus you dont want to jinx yourself...
