child support through the army... help!

posted 2nd Nov
Well Eli's father is in the army and we recently broke up. He said he would pay child support and all that jazz. Well I really really dont want to go to court again. Is there anyway I can go through the red cross of something considering I really dont just trust him on his word? Please help!!

No. It has to be done through the courts in order for it to be legal.

I'm sure the Red Cross has more important things to worry about then you getting your child support.

I don't even know why the Red Cross would cross your mind for child support..

The cross whlas mentioned to me by someone else. I wasnt sure. And saying it like was not necessary. Its not like that and you made it seems rude. I was wondering because the person who mentioned it said that they could get in touch with him and his higher ups considering I have no way of doing so.

My ex mother in law said she had to go through them because she had no contact and no way to contact her childs father or higher ups

Do you have a court order for child support or was this just a verbal agreement between you two?

I'm pretty sure instead of going through court you can go to a mediator and work out an agreement between the two of you.

normally with military they do it through their own courts. see if you can contact who his first Sargent in command is and go from there. they are very strict about child support.

The military does NOT had family matters in their courts, they are used for mpj and such.if you know what unit e is with and then his company you can call the duty on there they will get in touch with one of his higher ups. Here is the catch they can't make him give you anything since it is not court ordered but they an council him on it.be aware if he is collecting bah for this child he will more then likely get his ass handed to him since he does not have custody of thee kid more than 51 percent of the time.if this route does not work you can contact the Chaplin on his post and he MIGHT be willing to help.i was military myex is military and my husband now is a first sgt in the marine corps

when I was in this situation with my ex and I called his 1st Sargent in command they told me that they would first have to establish paternity then they would order him to pay child support and spousal support. He was in the marines. aslo my BIL is in the air force and they handle all of their court matters there. I have been told this information first hand. the military does not allow a man not to take care of his family. if I were you I would call his base directly. they will tell you exactly what steps to take.

They can enforce a pre-existing order, and encourage a person to do the right thing and support their child...nothing more

She will still need to go through her circuit civil court and file for it.

The only difference is in how it is garnished.
