I am Terrified of L&D

posted 2nd Nov
I know it's way to early to even start thinking about L&D since i am only 7 weeks, But i was just thinking about it, and i watched a few videos and i am absolutely just terrified. I don't think it's so much the pain that scares me, It's more of the tearing, and in my mind, i know its natural but watchingthose videos just makes me wonder, How the hell does the baby fit? lol

dont know what to tell you, it is definitely a painful experience lol. some women have wonderful labors, some have horrible. just take it easy and enjoy your pregnancy for now.

baby doens't alwyas fit. tha'ts why many tear..

it'll be ok though.

get the epidural.. and ask for it before the pain gets out of control. walk a LOT during your pregnancy, keep yourslef in shape.

it'll be ok... really. it's normal to be scared.

Honestly, I loved L&D, and missed it both times, a few months later.
The pain goes away right after. I had an episiotomy with both kids and had stitches, and even that wasn't so bad.

Call me crazy but I can't wait to do it all again   it's such an incredible experience, IMO.

Lol, it really looks worse than it is. I'm not saying it's enjoyable either. I had my baby without painkillers and this time round it will be the same. The tearing was only the worst bit when it came to recovery so this time I've opted for an episiotomy if needs be. Your body was designed to handle a lot of the pain and to be honest you have so much adrenaline and you just want the baby out so bad that you don't even notice half the pain. xx

It is normal to be scared or worried about it a little bit ....we all are. But with that said ...remember women have babies everyday and it is a natural normal thing.

This is my third child and I'm still scared as hell of the L&D! I think is natural for a woman to be scared as it is a painful experience.

Not really I tore with my first cause I got a episiotomy and with my second I didn't tear at all. Depends on the circumstances and if your doctor is massaging you while the baby's head is coming down.

No knockin' women who decide to go the epidural route, but there are other pain relief options, OP. For example - hypnobirthing is wonderful, made my birthing experience immensely enjoyable and relaxing. I felt discomfort at times, but no pain.

Also, dunno about statistics on tearing, but I know doing kegels beforehand helps and you can rub certain oils on the area during labour too. Not everyone tears though - I didn't.

It's totally naturally to be scared. When you asked what is that? I assume you meant episiotomy? That's just when doc cuts you instead of letting you tear naturally. Only reason I tore was because my baby's head was pointing at an awkward angle. x
