Writing thank-you cards for baby shower? opinion wanted

Did anyone send thank-you cards? And if so how did you word them?!

Also anyone who knows BD and I, know that we are HUGE jokers and are always trying to make something funny. For the baby shower we were going to do cupcakes with a condom on top, for laughs.. but because of an unforeseen visit to the hospital, due to contractions   we didn't have time to get them together. So instead I was thinking about writing something funny and putting them in the thank-you cards? Stupid or no?

personally i wouldnt put them in the TY cards, but thats just me...

To my friends and close family members I wrote more of a personal note like "thanks for coming to celebrate our second drunk oops!" and thank you for such and such(gift). But for family I'm not as close to I just wrote thank you for beig a part of this time. We're so excited blah blah blah.

Did you make it personal by writing thanks for exactly what they gave you? My aunt was in charge of writing down peoples names and what they brought, but I'm afraid she forgot someone or mixed up what they brought and I would be so embarrassed.

think thank you cards ar a wonderful idea, I plan to send mine off with a birth announcement once LO is born, but I wouldnt personally add condoms to the thank you cards.

I only wrote thank you cards to the few people who live in different states and couldnt make it to the shower but sent me gifts. Everyone else I thanked in person. I don't believe in wasting paper that people are going to just throw out right after they are done reading it

You could add something funny in there; but my rule is a thank you card has to state thanks for whatever they did or bought for you. I hate getting a card that days "thanks for your gift" cause it's so impersonal. I always make it very personized to each person. You could then make a funny joke to certain people who it's appropriate to?

I'm doing thank you cards I'm just thanking them for the generous gift and look forward to them meeting our baby after he or she arrives

We thanked them for the specific gift they gave. Not everyone gave a gift though for either of my kids. It was more of a celebrtion of her/his impending arrival than a shower. Ive never had a baby registry. So to those people we just said thanks for the support.

I hand write personalized thank you notes for everyone who attended. My thinking is that if they can take their time and money to do something nice to me, a proper thank you is essential.

And, no condoms in the cards for me. My grandmother would slap me upside the head!

I would rather not get a thank you card than get one that the person clearly wrote the same thing in for everyone with no personal attention.
