Black and Blue

posted 2nd Nov
My daughter was born at 36 weeks. When she was born I noticed her eye lids were black and blue. The NICU never said anything so I figured it was normal. She is 7 weeks old now and they are still black and blue. Not the whole eye lid but right at the bottom by the lashes. I dont remember my son ever having this [he was a full term late baby] so Idk if it has something to do with her just being early, if its normal, or if its something I should bring to her dr's attention.

TIA

I would bring it up to her doctor just to be on the safe side. I thought some minor bruising, etc. was supposed to be normal, but if it's lingering this long I'm not sure if it is considered normal still at this point, know what I mean? Certainly couldn't hurt to ask.

I have never heard of that before... but I had a 36 week nicu baby too. My new Dr thinks she might have been a 34 weeker and they just had my due date way off lol.

She was born at 36 weeks and was estimated 36 weeks 5 days by NICU nurses so she was for sure a 36 weeker

I wasn't saying she wasn't. But apparently its rare for a 36 weeker to be a nicu baby. Why was she in there?

Its not rare lol there was a few 36 week babies in the NICU along with my daughter because of lung problems which is common up to 38 weeks

she was there due to her birth and breathing problems

There was one other in there with my daughter and all they could talk about was how rare it was. Idk lol. Chloe's lungs weren't developed yet. But my new daughter looked at my other kids weight and her weight and he fact that her lungs were developed and said he couldn't confirm but it sounds like she was 34 not 36 lol. So idk. I'm high risk now. Boo!

My 2 33 weekers didn't have any sort of bruising, but they weren't born vaginally, either! I'd call the Pedi to be on the safe side.

When i had my son full term he was black and blue from the back of his head all the down the middle of his face to his lips. It stayed black and blue for a while right in between his eyes. It was so light and there for so long i thought maybe that was his birth mark. It's not letting me actually load the picture so here is the link
