Health Insurance

posted 1st Nov
Right now we're on an HSA insurance where there is a $3,000 deductible before anything kicks in (80/20). Anyways, if something WERE to indeed happen to us on this insurance, can I make small monthly payments on that deductible without getting turned over to claims? When I was on a different insurance, I only had 90 days to pay the balance in full before they sent it to collections.

On another note, tomorrow is the FINAL DAY to decide on insurance for 2013. Should I stay on this insurance or switch to the regular co-pay insurance (high premium low deductible)?

It depends on the doctors office. When I had my c_section I owed $2500 to many different doctors. Some let me have a payment plan others put me in collections after 30 days.

We ended up going with the high premium, low deductible plan. If Christopher busts his head open or I become pregnant, we'll be glad we ended up with this plan...

I agree. It's a smart choice.

As far as I know, high premium low deductible is good for those who are usually sick. Low premium high deductible is good for those who don't do regular visits to the doctor. The latter gives something to save I think, am I right?
