Would you...

Tonight BD and I went out for dinner then to Walmart to get a few things. Well, we were looking at cribs and then I wondered off to diaper bags and he asked why I couldn't just use his sisters stuff (she has a 9 month old) and I explained I would but depending on what it is. My style and hers are completely different. I have no problem using some things but they are just some things I want that I picked out and I don't know if we will have a girl or boy. Am I being a whiny baby or am I right to want some new things that are my own. We aren't gettin many new things just the basics like crib, clothes, high chair, stroller and what not. So it's not like am I completely shutting down the idea of used items hell I told my best friend that if it was a boy I would take some of te baby clothes off her hands. If its a girl my sister is saving some of my nieces items. So what do you think?

It depends on how you are financially. If you're super tight on cash, can't afford to eat, need to get a second job broke, then you should take all the help you can get. If you can afford to buy some new things, no big deal. JMO

I see nothing wrong with it if you are in a position to get all that stuff yourself. I'm the same way. I don't mind gently used baby clothes and toys, but I know I want to purchase the pack n play, swing and highchair myself. It's fine to be picky.

Ok I didn't know if I was just being hormonal or something. I mean yes we can afford it especially if I put items in lay way or buy them when taxes come in. Plus my school checks will be rolling in soon and he makes pretty good money an in currently looking for another job and putting my checks in savings for baby items an to use on bills or items our other children are going to need.

If you really can't afford to buy new, than I'd say yes, you're being whiny.
But if your finances are fine, then no.
I buy a lot used, but some things I would definitely prefer to buy new over used.

I mean some items we will be buying used from a gently used store like possibly the swing an high chair and there are some items I won't use if they're used just because I am paranoid freak and think what if it a screw is missing or something doesn't latch right or if its beyond my santizing. Like the crib and carrier. But no I don't mind an extra bag or too but the hospital I will be delivering at gives you 2 to take home. I have no objections to using and receiving used items.

I wouldd never buy a used crib or car seat. Anything else I would but most of the used stores have stuff all set up so you can inspect it before you buy it.

The store we normally buy from and practically the only one around. Has started to get sloppy when it comes to choosing/buying items from others. I used to buy clothes from there for the kids to play in or wear and have recently stopped because I noticed a lot more stains on items that seem to look like there are impossible to get out. So I don't trust them very much anymore. We bought a double stroller from them last year and I had to throw it out because when I removed the covers to wash them I noticed some small black mold spots on the bottom.
