No but it's there for them to use. That's what's important.
Even if they just go and get them some subs, at least they're being fed.

I am fairly certain they already tried this and it cost more than it saved. I would research that and how it worked in places it was implemented first.

Agreed. People also find this to hurt the families. I think that people who fail get offered assistance. Whoever takes it, takes it. Testing again you can get your benefits. In the mean time, someone else should be appointed to your benefits for the family so they are not affected. With the system as cards, they should require ID for all transactions and take out the ATM feature of the cash assistance. The cards should also not be able to be used at such stores like liquor stores or tobacco stores or to buy cigarettes.

So a single mom hangs out with some friends and smokes a joint that she didnt pay for when her kids are with their dad.

I think you need to go hang out with the 'wrong crowd' for a day or two to see how that works  . lol

A lot of people who need help get turned down for welfare, while drug addicts are receiving it. This would hopefully help the families that actually need help more, cutting out the drug addicts. It's sad, but at least kids get fed in school. That was the only time I got fed while living with my mother, at school, and we had food stamps...

I'm not sure.

I feel like if they do, then they should also demand to see receipts detailing where all the rest of their money is going. If its about them spending money unwisely, the fix would need to be bigger than just a drug test.

I don't feel passionately on the subject, that's just a thought.

Why? If you are helping those who have an addiction then I don't think it is a waste of money.

If I have to take a drug test to get a freaking job and WORK for my income then by God I think welfare recipients should do one to for the free smurf!

Okay, but if my husband has to take drug tests in order to go to work, he can't smoke a joint at a friends house, regardless of who paid for it. How is that different?

I think drug testing them is a huge waste of taxpayer money. I do think the idea makes sense but there is no way to do it without wasting millions.

Hopefully the single mom isn't stupid enough to go sign up for welfare within the time frame of that being on a drug test...

I think it's a good idea to drug test Welfare recipients BUT, that's as far as my train of thought goes.

In the end, I think the testing would cost more money for tax payers, cause dozens/millions of families/children to go hungry, and it wouldn't stop them from using anyway.

I think when we finally decide to stop controlling what/how do in their everyday lives, this world will FINALLY be a better place and we won't need things like Welfare or Food Stamps.

That's my opinion. I'm a dreamer.
