If you had gestational diabetes...

How big was your baby? Did you have "big" baby or was he/she "normal" size? I'm just curious cause this is my first child. Also, How many of you who had it ended up having to have a c-section? My doctor kinda has me freaking out a little bit. I know she is just trying to tell me all the risks that come a long with GD but still it's scary lol.

I was induced at 36 weeks due to low amniotic fluid. DD weighed 7 lbs.

SOs cousin had a 10lb baby. She was induced at 37 weeks and ended up with a csection.

My daughter was 8lbs 14oz ... my ob said she wouldn't be more than 5.5lbs :p
I didn't need a c-section but she got stuck and I pushed for 2 1/2 hours.

I had it with 2 of my pregnancies and both of my babies were normal sizes 6lbs 13oz and 7lbs 5oz. I didn't have a c section either. good luck!

DD was 7 lbs and 15 ounces, born vaginally at 39 weeks & 4 days

If you eat right and keep your blood sugar under control you should be fine  

Oh wow! So, I guess "big" babies do come along with it lol. They said they are doing a growth scan at 38 weeks to see how big she is but they have not done an U/S since I was 20 weeks. My sugar has, for the most part, been under control with just my diet but I had super high sugars when I first found out I had it. I'm so scared of tearing or going under the knife.

So far they have not put me on any medication at all. They said as long as they have been under control then when I go back in then they wont need to. I'm trying really hard lol. I seriously don't want to have to have a c-section

I have GD and this is my first, and so far my LO is about 2 weeks ahead from what the u/s tech said, 75th percentile. Big boy! My doc is talking about inducing me if my u/s's show any rapid growth from here out, but he did get some growth from when I didn't know I had GD. I'll see on the 6th what the difference between his size is. Hopefully he grows just a wee bit slower than he has been.

How many U/S have you had? I have only had 2. One at 9 weeks and the anatomy scan at 20 weeks. At 20w, the sex is all they told me. I wont get another one until I'm 38w and that is 5 and a half weeks away... I just wanna know around about how big she is lol

Im glad u dont have to have medication but my dr said insilin is a must for me and so far working good i have 3 weeks to go. Hope everything works out for you keep me posted

I am 29 weeks and I have had pre gestational diabetes since my 12 week. I have to check my blood 5 times a day and take 3 shots of insulin. My Ob said I would probably go 3-4 weeks early. I'm having to go to hospital every 4 weeks and Ob every 2 weeks for ultrasounds to make sure my baby is doing fine. So far he is ok. I have been worried a lot of what will happen and I'm really hoping I don't have to have a c section. Has anyone had to be induced?
