I have been here. Pregnant with a toddler. $1200 electric bill. It did work out in the end. However, I would never call a woman in this position who got an abortion "selfish." Selfish is putting a baby in a smurfed up situation because you want one so bad.

I don't think it is selfish. You are realistic and know your limitations. A baby would be too much for you to take on emotionally and physically.

Nope, I had an abortion last year because I didn't want anymore kids. If I got pregnant again right now, I'd head right to planned parenthood for another one right after I got a positive.

I don't agree with abortions, but I try not to judge those who have them. My own mother had three before me, so yeah...kinda hard to throw stones at anyone. =/

Edit: Actually, the only time I've ever judged someone who was Pro-Choice and/or had an abortion(s) was when I once thought of a couple as ignorant. And it's only because they wished to degrade people who proclaimed themselves as Pro-Life by calling them "stupid" and "Bible humpers" and got asshurt because of differing opinions. No this does not refer to anyone here personally.

Here is how I look at it, (without getting into this too deep) if you are feeling like it's selfish, or you feel bad about thinking about an abortion, chances are, no matter what anyone on here says, you are going to feel like it was a selfish decision. The fact that you are asking for complete strangers to reassure you on such a life changing decision proves that you aren't completely comfortable with it. I know this was a hypothetical situation, but it's better to stop a pregnancy before it happens then it is to stop a life once it has. I hope that made sense.

Sure, it is sort of selfish. Who cares, though? It's better to be selfish now & terminate vs. having the baby & feeling resentment toward him or her & not giving the child the life it deserves.

I don't think you're selfish. If I got pregnant right now, the first thing I'd do is make an appointment for an abortion. I have too many physical/mental issues going on right now to deal with another kid. Plus, carrying a kid would kill me right now, and sorry, but I'm not risking my life, my well being, and my children's well being for a fetus. So if you're selfish, I'm selfish too.

When my friends come to me with issues like this I try to talk them out of abortion, if they get one anyway (a couple have) I don't stop being their friend or make them feel bad, but they know I feel it's wrong.

two years ago I found out I was pregnant with my boyfriend of only 5 months and I was excited at first then a few weeks into it he beat me up so badly that I thought he was going to kill me.... at that point I thought to myself i cant be tied to this monster for life, I cant raise this baby alone, so I had an abortion despite his family and friends advice and harsh words. Abortions are situational and up to you, if you have to ask if its wrong then that means you just feel guilty but its your choice.
