Nipple shield question...
posted 1st Nov
Has anyone breast fed with a nipple shield the entire breast feeding time? I know they say it cuts down your milk supply, but so far its great, but I find its the only way to breast feed because my nipples are so small and my daughters tongue doesn't seem to each out very much which inn return gives me cracked nipples...anyways...anyone with the same problem or suggestions are welcome thanks

I did, everyday for 6 months. I had PLENTY of supply my little man was a chunky boy. And I have a friend who did with BOTH her kids, for over a year she had enough as well.

Took my 3 months to wean my son.
The hospital gave it to me after only letting me try for about 2 minuets.
I wish I would have known better.

I used a nipple shield from the time my milk came in to about a month because DS had latching problems and I had small inverted nipples.
Right when he was 1 month old, we took a bath together and he was showing signs of being hungery so I figured I'd let him try to eat without the shield because we had just gotten in and I didn't want to get out and get the shield. It did take a little work, but what do you know?? He finally latched! I haven't been using the shield since our bath! (about 10 days now)

We had to buy a shield. After we got home, he stopped feeding as often for a couple days, my boobs got engorged, so I pumped and we fed him with a bottle for two days and after that he wouldn't latch. I was in tears. So I did some research and found the Medela nipple shield. I put it on and he latched right on. He's a month old now and I still use it, I make plenty of milk for our little guy!!

I worked so hard for 2 months straight trying to wean my son. One day he just got it. It was amazing.
