I've actually talk to my doctor and he said that if you've smoked before you got pregnant then you shouldnt quit all the way, just cut back to like 4 a day..because it can send your baby into alot of shock since its already use to the nicotine.

you should wean yourself off of them... so you're not exposing them to either the nicotine or poisonous carbon monoxide which explains the higher incidences of miscarriage in heavy smokers.

I am not agree to what your doctor is saying, according to my knowledge every women who is pregnant should quit smoking immediately when she come to know about her pregnancy.

Hello everyone!
I haven't been on BG for a while & am just now seeing this thread.
I quit for 5 years and back in February I started smoking again & for what reason I have no idea, I was super stressed & just gave in to an urge I had... I'd really like to quit again & decided friday will be the day I stop cold turkey, it worked for me last time, I just hope it works again & that I can stay smoke free. i want to work out again on a regular basis & I can't do it for long without feeling out of breath... I hate it.

I do not smoke, but would like to PLEASE warn people about Chantix, my husband tried to take it, not only did it not help him quit, it has seriously messed with his head, his mood and irritability. While he (luckily) knew it was the Chantix, and didn't seriously consider his thoughts about it, suicide entered his mind. He says he 'isn't the same' in other ways to, and his gut tells him it was the Chantix. I do not know if anyone else has posted about this, I'vbe not read any of this thread, I just wanted to share our experience when I saw this topic.

quitting smoking is completely a psychological process, ur brain thinks that your body needs smoke in your lungs and nicotine in your blood but it is not so.

Started chantix yesterday! Hopefully I'll be completely cravings free in 30 days.

I have not been able to quit... I quit for one day and all hell broke loose between my fiancee and I. He tried quitting with me... but two smurfs in one place along with 2 others that chain smoked... it was NOT easy at all. I have cut back from a pack to a pack and a half a day down to 5-10 cigs a day... Not great at all but I didn't think I even had it in me to do that much. I'm trying my best to keep going down but along with stress comes the ultimate craving for one of those damn things... then two and three. But my baby is healthy so far so I'll bash myself and be proud she's being so strong throughout mommy's weakness.
