I remember stuff like that too, riding to the beach in the back of my dad's el camino at age 7 or so. I'm sure it'd be enough to give these seat nazis a heart attack.

Here, it's 5 in either a booster or car seat. Under 12 requires seat belt.

My SIL turned her daughter forward facing at 6 months. I tried everything to educate her... and to top it off she constantly gave me smurf for nit turning my son forward facing until after her turned 2.

I turned my oldest forward facing when he turned 1 and I wish I hadn't. He just turned 2, and if I had known about ERF, he would still be rear facing. My baby is 10.5 months old and I will NOT be turning him around in 2 months. He will be rear facing for at least another year!

Yeah we had one of those vans where the back seat could be made into a bed so car trips were fun laying around

I consider myself a carseat nazi for my own children. I'll do my research and decide what I think is best. I'll educate others if it comes up but I can't force them to do anything. Most of the time I just agree to disagree. My kids, my choice. Just as it is theirs. If they have the education and decide to do it different that's up to them. <shrug> lol.

Same here. I make sure my kids are safe in the car, with me or withoout me there. lol
What others choose to do is up to them. You can tell some ppl till they are blue in the face, but you cant change them.
Some ppl are very greatful if they didnt know and some are not and dont care.

My 4 yr old is in a 5point still, but when we take a taxi or end up stuck somewhere and we need a ride, its either a no back booster and rare occasions just the seat belt. I dont personally drive myself, so sometimes I take the bus then we miss it and we need a ride back home, so I have no choice, I hate it but, it beats walking 4 hours home.

i think instead of being oh so upset at your SIL, worry about yourself and get a hobby.
