DS wants pressure?

DS has started coming to me asking for big hit and asks me to squeeze him and tells me squeeze until the pressure is really hard. He wants yo be held like that for minutes.

The other night I faked sleep and he did it to himself

Is that something I should be worried about or keep an eye on?

He has speech delay and often regresses with him speech so he cant e plain why he like it and needs it even if I asked.

Sounds like he may have a sensory issue and just meed that pressure to eelax himself. If he needs it give it to him no harm really. I would not worry too much about it since he told you he needed it.

The added pressure could be relaxing him. If it happens a lot for sleep look into a weighted blanket.

its a comforting thing. I would interpret it as self soothing, or looking to you for that.

my DS was on a medication that had adverse affects on him for a while, and I would hold him really tight to calm him down when he would get crazy. It really worked and got him back to normal after a manic/angry episode.

I don't know. My cousin teaches autistic kids and some of them like that. But most of the ones I've met dislike being touched.

Maybe it's similar to how some kids like being tickled? It feels good, so your son likes it. I hope you get your answers soon, mama.

Could just be that he likes the pressure, could be sensory. My son has autism and loves tight hugs when he's overwhelmed to calm him.

It was an epilepsy medication. Hes seizure free and off meds now. The meds can make people "rage". Hes all good now

Just thought about it, my son still tells me to squeeze him really tight. Hes not delayed or SN and just likes it. Im sure your DS is fine!!
