Bigger Babies

posted 31st Oct
For all you mothers out there who had babies bigger than 8lbs, did you eat a lot of sugar during your pregnancy? I recently went to the doctor and based on the ultrasound(which I do know can be off by 2lbs), he said I need to cut all sugar out of my diet or I will end up having a 8+ lbs baby. I don't have gestational diabietes or anything but I do eat sugar whenever I want. I always have and right now its all I want...

You probably should start eating it in moderation.
I had a 9 pound baby..but I blame it on my mother who would cook steak twice a week

I ate a ton, did not have GD and had a 9lb 13oz baby...and honestly it really wasn't that bad (having a large baby that is)

What   That is just stupid. I am measuring to have another "larger than average" baby and my Dr basically smiled and said good luck. Not in those words, but yeah, it's not a huge deal. Some people make big babies and that's just how it is.

Yeah my doctor acted like 8 lbs is humongous for a baby. My mom had all small children like less than 7 lbs with all of us, well actually my entire family has always had small babies, so I am hoping he will be less than 9lbs.

No I ate as I always have. Minimal refined sugars an processed foods. Dd was 8.11. Although big babies "run in the family" on both sides. DH and I were both 9pounders and most of the kids on my side were above 9. If I have another and actually make it to my due date I have a feeling that LO will be just as big as dd

I ate lots, did not have GD and had a 9 pounder. But I dont think size matters as much as position of the baby when they're coming out.

I didn't eat a lot of sugar with either pregnancy. I didn't cout calories by any means but I ate decently. I gained the same amount with both pregnancies.

My bf was 9.14 and I have gd. I eat what I want but not an enormous amt of sugar. He told me it didn't matter if I eat sugar or not I would have gd because my placenta doesn't process it correctly. He told me to eat how I have been and take my medication for it. I really just crave "real food" over all. My dr told me at my 36 week ultrasound if baby boy is measuring big he will think about inducing me.
