Well like I just said it also has to do with how they used it.
Any acting up warrants punishment but innocently saying any word does not. Anywhere I ever went to school or anyplace my mom ever worked has never kicked a kid out for using a swear word in passing.

slips ups happen..there are some who use it over and over..Yes over here they will get kicked out of school

We don't swear, and I don't even like it when my 4 year old says "stupid". I wouldn't be happy if he picked up a swear word or too from another kid whose parents let them swear. I think it's tacky to say the least.

I'm not talking about slipping up I'm talking about NOT using them menacingly.

Thank god I don't live where you do then bcause I believe in freedom of speech.

I believe in freedom of speech also..but a 5 year old saying smurf you to a teacher is disrepect..any student saying it is disrepect..its not cute either..Would it be ok for a teacher to say it to your child? Or if I came up to your child and said hey you smell like smurf!! I would hope you wouldnt think that is funny but then again its freedom of speech right?

I believe in freedom of speech too, but I think there should be rules and consequences when students are within the confines of a school...

You are either really distracted right now and not fully reading what I'm saying, or really really dense.

Not anywhere I live or have ever heard of and we've had an entire conversation since then.

I have said multiple times that I don't see anything wrong with a kid using a "swear" as a normal word. I DO have a problem with any child acting mencacingly towards an adult in any way.

Then she has the gall to act like I said it's ok for a kid to say "smurf you" to a teacher when I specifically said in the last post that it's NOT.
And then say "I hope you wouldn't think it's funny" when once again I've stated multiple times and even in my FIRST post in this topic that I don't find children swearing "funny".

She is taking everything I've said, and acting like I said the OPPOSITE. It's pretty annoying when people do that.

Where did I say that I thought you were ok with YOUR 5 year old saying F you to a teacher? I am talking in general your taking everything personal. Only thing I directed at you was would it be ok if I sad your kid smelled like smurf? I would hope not. If you think its ok for a kid cuss then hey go for it. I happen to disagree.

Yeah I didn't see you saying that either, she's making assumptions.

And its fin for us to disagree.

Once again, you're missing the point. Idc if you said my kid or any other kid.. I JUST said I don't think its ever ok for any kid to talk to any adult disrespectfully period. So then why would you act like I said it was "cute" and ask me if it's ok if a teacher said it to a child?
And do you not think telling anyone they smell like smurf is disrespectful? Because I just said I DON'T THINK PEOPLE SHOULD USE SWEARS DISRESPECTFULLY. What other way can I possibly say it for you to get it through your head. It's very clear.

I swear every day, and I use them like normal words. You don't have to call someone a smurfing bitch to swear. They CAN be used normally.
I'm really not concerned with the words my child uses, I'm concerned with how he uses them. He says please and thank you even when he doesn't need to and is more polite and well spoken than any two yr old I've ever seen met or heard of so no I don't care if he uses swear words.
I also don't think it's funny, which I've stated now for the millionth freaking time.
