re: Do you let your toddler swear?

& on the "it's just words" subject. She is right..it is just words.
& if you say those words around your child, I don't see how you could be mad for your child saying the same thing.
My LO is 19 months and said "God Damn"
..since then, we have stopped cursing when he is around

Kids repeat things adults say. If you don't want your kid to swear, don't swear around them. Otherwise you can't expect them not to.

No way. There are times where I ignore it.

I know I swear accidentally, but it is much better than it used to be, and much better than my dad ever was. Like you stub your toe or burn your self or get pissed at something for not working.

I did think it was pretty funny I asked LO about Franken weenie and she looks at me funny and says "Why are you talking about freakin weenies?" I had to laugh at that one. But other than that she gets scolded and told that we don't say that. It is never often enough to take away privileges though.

no and we try not to swear in front of him. sometimes SO will swear and my son will repeat him, WITHOUT the swear word in the sentence. it's cute.

We usually say " That was a bad word and Mommy/Daddy should have chose a nice word."

Sometimes I get carried away in convos and dont even realize that I am using cuss words.

My toddler hasn't picked up on it yet, but my 6 year old has. If he wants to say naughty words, I make him do so quietly in his room. He ha a right to speak freely- that includes all words. Even the ones society has labeled as naughty or foul. He knows there is a time and place and that the place is in his room.

Yes I can expect him not to. I'm an adult, he's a child. I have a glass of wine in front of him, does that mean he can have one also?

That's exactly what I was thinking. What is she going to do when he's swearing at school and getting into trouble for it. Idk I just think its wrong for a child to swear and it's not cute but she seems to think so.

Not as a toddler. Although i do agree curse words are just words. If parents want to let their children swear, i could care less. I just think it makes them look kind of trashy. I'm not sure why, cursing *insert does not equal sign here* trashy.

No. I don't speak like that, not a chance I'd let either of them.

Every time I go outside to check the mail, or whatever, and our neighbor's daughter is outside she calls me a B****. I'd be humiliated if my children spoke to people like that.

That's a really good idea.

I would never drink, eat or do anything in front of my son that he isn't allowed to do.
