Bridezillas

My brother and I love watching this show, and it amazes me how some brides-to-be act on there. I get it, it is your wedding, but still.

I was wondering, for those of you who are/have been married, do you believe that a woman has a right to be a bridezilla? Getting married is a once (or twice, three if your Jlo or eight if you're Elizabeth Taylor) in a lifetime experience for...some and a special occasion for all parties.

Were you a bridezilla (don't worry about getting judged, lol)? Is the wedding "all" about the bride? If you watch TLC, it seems as though weddings put more emphasis on the bride (and dress) than the special engagement.

I wasn't a bridezilla. The wedding isn't all about the bride, IMO.

I think its unacceptable. Even SO said he would cancel our wedding if I acted out in such a manner.   I wouldn't blame him.

The women on that show are downright disrespectful. I used to watch it but the more I do, the more I hate it !

I believe that a woman has the right to want things to go right at her wedding and shouldn't let no one run over her or make decisions for her. She can't re-do it and it REALLY does take a lot out of a woman, cause lets face it, the men don't give a rats ass and don't do anything. BUT there is NO reason for a woman to be just plain out rude AND mean like some of those women are on that show.

I was not. At all. Weddings are pointless to me.

I think the whole "all about the bride" crap is stupid honestly. It's about you deciding to marry someone. That's between you and that person. Why then is it everyone else celebrating it? Why does everyone else need to do all this because YOU decided to marry someone?

I think it's very silly honestly, and I think it sets people up horribly. So many women are so concerned with the wedding taht they give little thought to the marriage. I'd be happy as could be if weddings were basically done away with and people just got married, just the two of them, all the time.

I didn't have the chance to be one, since we did a last minute elopement type thing. haha I think I MIGHT have been slightly bridezilla-ish if I'd had a big, stressful wedding, but definitely nowhere near the girls on that show. I saw one episode where the bridesmaids had to sign a "legal" contract to obey any and every whim of the bride--so not cool!

I never understood how weddings went from being a holy union to being a commercialized celebration.

Yep, it is sad that some women put more effort into their "perfect" wedding than they do their marriage.

I know. I know of almost no one who put any thought into their marriage, but spent months and month obsessing over seating arrangements and flowers for a wedding. It's ONE day. I do not understand this idea of this fairytale. My wedding day wasn't my best day by any means. My marriage is much better then that one single day.

Me too. I had a simple wedding (4k, 50 pple) and I planned it in 6wks and I did get stressed( but thats bc I was also runnging a restauarant 6 days a week 12 hrs a day and 2 kids AND figure out my wedding) but I was NOT trying to get it perfect , just decent and I would NEVER treat my fam/friends like those women do on that show.

OP did you see that one where they did like 3 episodes for one chick, she had long blk hair , can't remember her name but she was voted the worst on that show, she was HORRIBLE!

SOOOOO jealous.

I was married in Vegas and planned it to just be us. However, family guilt tripped us and so we had our parents and siblings there too. My favorite part wasn't the wedding, it was the honeymoon since we spent ALL week in vegas having a ton of fun.
