So its halloween. yay.

So I want to know, do you and your SO eat any of your kids candy that they get? Do you ask first to have any or do you just take the candy? If you have more then 1 child do they keep their own candy in their own spot or in their rooms etc...or does it get combined and shared for the kids or the whole family.

I have reasons on asking this.

A friend of mine gets very upset if her SO even asks their 7 yr old dd for a piece of candy from her bag. Last year alone my kids with her 1 dd had 3 pillow cases of candy each. And she refuses to have any or even let her dd share with her SO if he asks her for a piece.

Its a lot of cand IMO for just one child. I know in my house the candy gets dumped out and seperated into chips/suckers/gum etcc and put into a large box and goes in the closet for EVERYONE in the house to share, it does not belong to one child over the other child etc....My kids have never had an issue with this ever, either did me and my brother growing up. Usually by easter, we still have so much candy from halloween left over we throw it out anyways. My kids dont eat a lot of candy at all.

So I was wondering do you eat your kids candy, and not ever have any. Oh her dd keeps the candy hidden in her room and does not have to share it at all. They dont know where she hides it or when she eats it. SO D&D .

They keep their own candy. I don't steal it from them, but I'll ask if I want a piece. They keep it in their Halloween bags/buckets, but in the kitchen. I don't allow food in the bedrooms, period.

Growing up, we put all our candy in a bowl and everyone had some. My mom also mixed in the leftover from what she passed out. I never had a problem with it. Most of it got thrown away anyway.

My mom would always keep our candy in her bedroom so that we couldnt sneak out in the middle of the night and eat it. She would have a piece here and there, it never bothered me.
But next year when I take DS out, you better believe I am going to be eating some of that candy   He wont be able to have a lot of it anyways considering he will only be 14 months old

Oh yes, I let him keep half of his candy. As he gets older I'll let him keep more. My little man has a major sweet tooth & will eat it nonstop if I let him have all of it at once. So, he gets to eat some and make the rest last until Christmas or longer if possible.

I let my son keep his candy and DH and I do not eat it. I do put it up so I can limit how much he eats. He don't get a lot of candy though. We only go to our development and it only has 20 houses. When I was little my parents let us keep our own candy.

My kids are only 2 and 3, so this is our first year of them actually doing any trick or treating (technically trunk-or-treating on base and then a church-sponsored Fall festival where businesses set up booths downtown and pass out candy to the kids...I don't like the idea of my kids going door to door at this age, since they might not understand it's a once-a-year thing). Anyways, as soon as we got home, my 3 yo DD randomly dumped all her candy into her brother's bucket so they could share it. We've also thrown in the candy we bought for ToTers, so it's become a community candy bowl by now. After dinner each night, they can pick one piece. We'll pass out the stuff that we either don't like or that they can't have yet. ;)
