Bathing problems

posted 30th Oct
Bathing my DD has become such a hassle. I have the bear sponge that you lay in the bathtub, but now she's fighting me and trying to roll over off it, and trying to stand up in the tub, and I am afraid of her sliding and falling. I have a hard time even keeping her laying down to rinse off her hair. Any one have any suggestions to make bathing go a lot easier? She has toys as well to try and keep her occupied but she's not interested. TIA!

With my son as soon as he was able to sit up on his own I just let him sit up in the tub. I usually try to make his bath time less about washing and more about playing. Maybe I shouldn't, but it's easier if I don't try to fight him to wash him. He stands up in the tub no matter how many times I sit him back down. If your tub is plastic I wouldn't worry a whole lot about it, but ceramic tubs can cause a lot more damage if she falls. We bought those little sticky things you put on the bottom of the tub to give him some traction and I just wash whatever body part I can easily get to at the moment. I had the same issues transitioning from bathing him laying down to bathing sitting up because he won't lean his head back to rinse his hair, so if he won't I just pour the water over his hair anyway. His shampoo is safe on his eyes and it catches his attention because he doesn't like water in his face. Usually after the first time he'll lean his head back for me.

That seems like a good idea, but my sink is a double, really small, I even have a hard time doing dishes.

Don't know I'm in Australia I can't see why not, they seem to sell everything else at Walmart lol. They sell them at target and baby stores. They are generally made for 6months+ so should be good for her

Yeah, mines ceramic. Never thought of getting a sticky. Next time I'm in an area with a WalMart I'll check out my options. I end up doing the exact same as you, also have the tear free shampoo!

I have a double too, and my 9 month old loves taking a bath in it.

The co-bathing is also a good idea.

I always wondered if it would be weird if I took a bath in a bathing suit with my son. Glad I'm not the only one who has considered it. I love engaging in the things my son likes doing and bath time is his favorite (until I try to wash him haha) so I always want to get in and play with his toys with him but I thought I was weird lol.

I'd do it as well if I had a son! Not weird at all, just another bonding moment.
