Question

posted 30th Oct
Can a 3 year old get insomnia? My daughter is usually the best one out of her and her siblings to be the first in bed by bed time since Sunday she has been fighting to stay up later. I've turned off TV and took away books. I've rocked her and it takes her forever to crash. She naps at daycare occasionally from noon till 2. She gets up daily around 8ish. Right now she is an hour and a half past bed time. My other 2 are knocked out. Ugh. Sorry if I misspelled or left something out. Posting from my phone.

It could just be that she's at the age where she's learning that she can control certain things, like when she falls asleep or how much she eats (my son used that one against me), and she's just pushing the boundaries. I wouldn't take away her books, though, I'd keep with the regular routine.

The books I have to take away because when she gets angry or upset she will throw them because I made her stay in her bed.

If she's doing things like throwing books, I'd say she's for sure pushing boundaries and not having sleep trouble.

Thanks. She's the only one so far who has gone through this stubborn staying up phase!

Oh my gosh, I have so been there. Like I said, mine did the same thing with food. Drove me crazy! I just had to be firm with him and show him that meal time was not something that could be compromised and EVENTUALLY he grew out of it!

Yeah. She is finally giving up. Laying in her bed. Listening to her lullaby music.
