Who needs feminism?

I actually just wanted to share some photos from this blog I follow on Tumblr.  

Not many people know, but I'm actually a feminist.   I thought sharing these photos would actually make for a good discussion.  

Er... A bit of warning, some of these pictures are powerful and may be triggering to some.

I like this one! because someone has told my step son that all of these arbitrary things have a gender. No. Purple is not a girl color, and Killswitch Engaged isn't only for boys (like he thinks.)

I like that one too.  
My family thinks I need to tell them the sex of this one so they know whether to get pink or blue.  

I need feminism because:

I am allowed to choose to be a SAHM.

Being a SAHM does not mean that I don't have a degree (or two).

Because I have a right to choose what to do with my body, including how to deliver my own children and not be faced with scare tactics and lies when I question the status quo.

Because mothering is still one of the greatest tasks women are given and loving it is NOT shameful or limiting or a waste of my talents.

Because I have been sexually assaulted by a stranger simply because I was a female in a bar and he "thought you were drunk"

Because I have been pawed by men while standing on a street watching a parade in open view of hundreds of people and not one person thought he deserved the slap he got from me.

Because a cop friend felt the need to escort me home because I was dressed sexy and he thought I would get raped walking 200 yards across campus from the campus theater to my dorm room (because a tight dress and heels cause rape).

Because I'm tired of being called a "dependent" or "lazy" because my husband and I choose that I stay home with our child to assure that he is not raised by strangers and that his education is not reliant on unreliable educational systems.

I bought my daughter literally everything EXCEPT pink when I was pregnant. The only things that really had any pink were her blankets I got her. Mostly because I didn't like the ones geared for boys.

But this is also the child that will pick out dinosaur or truck cups over princess and unicorn cups any day of the week. Now I need to get that through to my step son!! Lol.

My stepkids finally after 4 years rarely say "but that's a boy/girl toy". Our boys are raised pretty gender neutral my oldest is obsessed with purple and eyeshadow   it gets messy haha
