Scared of Induction with oral pill!!!

Had my 39 week check up today. My dr wants me to be induced between tomorrow and fri due to high bp.... She said I'd go in at night and be given an oral pill to start helping my cervix ripen. I'm only 1.5 cm and have been for a week and not having any contractions to help progress. She never mentioned the name of the pill they would give me but I looked it up and the only one that can be given is misOprostol which from what I read is aka cytotec? Am I correct? And isn't there really bad things that have happened with women who were being induced with that??

I was induced and they started me out on cytotec but they actually placed it in the cervix the first one didnt do much so they placed another 4 hours later and I started having contractions. I was then put on pitocin and I was induced due to hbp as well but it went smoothly.

There have been. I had a friend induced for the same reason just a week ago and everything went fine with her. No problems or anything. It is commonly used at several hospitals.

If you are concerned I would talk to your doctor about it and see if she is willing to use any other methods if it would make you more comfortable.

I read some reaaaallly bad stuff with that. Be very careful.

Yeah, very bad things have happened to women and babies induced with Cytotec.
I wouldn't let them get near me with that smurf.

i beg of you do not take it. i took this eight weeks ago and it made me dilate super fast and his heart rated kept dropping. we almost lost our son.

I've heard bad stuff about it too, and didn't realize today during my appt that's what she was talking about otherwise I would've asked her about other options at my appt   I'm so scared, not only for the baby I'm carrying but for my 3 yr old at home that needs her mommy to make it thru and from what I heard it can cause death for both the mom and infant ..... I just don't know what to do .....

When you go in just tell them to give you something different. It's disgusting to me that they still even use Cytotec.

Just tell them you will not take it. Ask for other options.

I was induced last week. I didn't get a oral pill but they placed a med behind my cervix to thin it out had to wait 12hours but worked 100% for me the started my pitocin and fully dilated 4hours later. I did 15hours no meds but last few hours the pitocin kicked my but i was sooo tired and couldn't keep going so got epi which i cryed about because i didn't want it but my body told me other wise. It all went great but hopefully next time i wont need to be induced so i can go all natural. Made me sad
