Car seat position

posted 30th Oct
With Liv, her carseat is in the middle between the two seats. When the new one gets here, do I set it next to hers so there is a space open behind the drivers seat? Or do I put them both behind the seats and leave the middle open?

Less protected should be in the middle or behind the driver. I have my FF 4 year old behind me and the RF 1 1/2 year old between the passenger.

The next safest place is the drivers side, the least safe place in a vehicle is the passenger side because many accidents happen by being t-boned during a left turn. The driver side is hit less often basically

My sons carseat is behind the driver FF (hes 4) and my daughters is RF behind the passanger (shes almost 1) and the middle is open.. I think that is the only way they would fit correctly.

Yeah I was thinking it made more sense to do behind each seat. I didnt even think about the passenger side being less safe, but it totally makes sense!

I was told the drivers side is safer over the passenger side because you are more likely to steer away from the accident, if that makes any sence. I dont know how true it is though.

I have an SUV, soon all my 6 rear seats will be full but my baby always goes in the middle front row. The one just before the baby goes next to the baby on passenger side. My oldest kids goes with them on that row behind the driver. I do it that way so I can get a quick glance and access to them when stopped but I wont need to struggle to see them when driving..so that serves as a lesser distraction. Plus with somebody older next to the baby, they can help by passing baby the bottle and rattle ect..ect.... It works for me but I don't know the rules I do what seems like correct and easy for the whole family.
In your situation I would put baby in middle to easy access, its away from windows, next to older sibling. Older sibling would go on passenger side IF It is my car /family car and I was primary driver. OR, Oldest on driver side if it was daddy's car and I am not the driver and baby goes in middle.
